Scheduling Reference
For our building partners

When to schedule AudioWorks.

The question we hear most from builders is a fair one. When do you need us on site? Here is the whole answer, mapped to the milestones already on your schedule.

We are not a trade you call once. Technology threads through a build from framing to a month after move-in, at roughly a dozen moments. Miss one and the cost tends to surface later as a change order or an opened wall. This is the map. Find your milestone, see where we fit, and slot us in. The durations scale with the size of the home, so read them as ranges and land where your project sits.

DesignBefore the ground breaks
01During designA seat at the planning table
Pre-construction coordination Recommended
Bring us in while it is still a drawing. We lock scope and device locations before they cost anything to move, and we flag what the plans need to carry for technology.
FramingAs the walls go up
02As framing goes upHalf a day on site
Framing coordination
A walk with your framer. We mark shade pockets, TV blocking, backing, and rack framing so it gets built in the first time, not chased later.
03Around framingBefore flatwork
Site and services conduit
We mark where conduit needs to run between structures and out to the street, so it goes in before flatwork and landscape seal the ground. We flag the routes, your site crew trenches them.
Rough-InBefore the 4-way
04Alongside the electriciansOnce the light cans are hung, complete before the 4-way
Prewire
We pull every wire, box, and backing while the walls are open. We start while the electricians are still on site for rough-in, generally once the light cans are hung, and we complete before the 4-way so nothing holds up insulation.
We will need from you the framing complete and to spec first. The shade pockets and TV back-box locations have to be framed as marked before we can set them in at rough-in.
05Before insulationHalf a day
Pre-drywall QC walk
A verification pass once our wire is in. We catch anything now, while it is still open and reachable.
DrywallOnce the walls close up
06After drywall, before mudHalf a day on site
Post-drywall walk
We find and mark our buried boxes and drops so nothing is lost under the finishes and trim lands clean later.
PaintFinishes going in
07Starts at paint2 to 4 weeks, in our shop
Production and rack build Off-site
In our shop, we build and stage your rack through the paint phase. It runs alongside trim, so it never holds up your schedule.
08After paint is done1 to 3 weeks on site
Trim
We install the wall devices on finished, painted walls and cover the openings clean. Speakers, keypads, and everything that lives in the wall.
Shade measurements happen once paint is done. We measure the finished window openings for final sizing and order to those exact dimensions. That locks the openings, so no further changes to them after.
Before the CoOSystems come alive
092 to 4 weeks before CoO1 to 2 weeks on site
Rack delivery and commissioning
We set the rack and bring lighting, security, and the home systems to life. These have to work to earn your Certificate of Occupancy.
We will need from you the equipment room finished, cleaned, and powered before we deliver and commission. It is the single dependency that trips up more schedules than any other, and the easiest one to plan around.
Finish and Move-InThe last stretch
10After final cleaning1 to 2 weeks before move-in
Finish
TVs, shades, and tabletop gear. These are the pieces a dusty jobsite ruins, so we want a clean house first. Shade fabrics and electronics go in after the final cleaning, a week or two before your clients move in.
11At move-inA half to a full day
Handoff
We walk the finished home with the owner and teach the systems, once finish and commissioning are both done.
After Move-InWe do not disappear
121 to 2 months after move-inAs the home is lived in
Fine-tuning
There are always changes. We stay close the first month or two, tuning and adjusting as the family settles into the home.

The earlier we are at the table, the cleaner the build.
